Library @ Muir

Hi everyone! My name is Keshia Nash-Johnson and I am your librarian!

I have been working for SMMUSD since 2017 but have been active in the library since I was in fourth grade. I am an alumnus of SMMUSD and I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back to the system that supported me while I was growing up. I have Two Bachelor’s degrees from the California State University of Long Beach in Creative Writing and Literature and have a Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. I worked at the Santa Monica Public Library for over several years and Volunteered for a number of other professional organizations. I speak, read, and write in Japanese, Korean and some Spanish. I really love reading and watching movies, but more than anything I enjoy sharing that joy with others. My job is to curate a collaborative space that allows for a deeper understanding and questioning of the world around us and the media we consume. I encourage students to step out into perspectives that differ from their norms and also reaffirm an open narrative investigation when it comes to stories.

I have a lot of hobbies, but if I had to name a few I would say that I write, play video games, play Dungeons and Dragons, crochet, and READ! With all the reading that I do, it’s pretty hard to choose a favorite book, so I will share my favorite author: Tamora Pierce!

I really look forward to getting to know our community and its needs! Please don’t hesitate to contact me!
