SMMUSD & Ocean Park Community
Muir has a wonderful English As a Second Language Parent Group, the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The ELAC is a committee for parents of English Learners.
The purpose of the ELAC is to provide guidance and advice to the principal and staff with regards to the needs of students who are learning English as a second language.
Our Spanish Speaking Parents Group is a Latinx parent collective at Muir! These parents are also a huge part of Muir PTA, event committee, and our community!

Ed Foundation's Moving together dance series
Need a break from your quarantine routine? Are you up for a dance challenge or maybe just want to learn some new moves?
You can dance with the “Moving Together” Dance Series - a high-energy hip-hop/urban contemporary dance program created by award-winning choreographer and teaching artist Robert Gilliam and funded by the Ed Foundation’s For The Arts endowment.
This online program is a true celebration of movement, self-expression and creativity. You will cover the foundations of hip-hop dance through to the current street styles of today, along with a warm-up, a stretch/flexibility session, and two master classes taught by professional dancers Kim Borgaro and Ceylon Harris from OTE Dance Studio. Borgaro teaches a high-energy Jazz class and Harris offers her popular Acro 4 Dance.
“Moving Together” is offered in two different modules: beginner and intermediate. Both programs are open to all levels and abilities. You’ll even see that some videos are in both levels. No dance experience needed!
Ocean Park Association (OPA) is the Neighborhood Association. An organized place where community members can advocate for issues, communicate with community leaders, engage for community safety, and continue to promote our educations or charitable causes. The association meets every second Monday of each Monday, and Muir parents are welcome to be included in conversation on the area.
